Taimi Post, Certified Forest Therapy Guide

I find inspiration, rest and wisdom in the woods. Throughout my journey, the forest has taught me about the seasons in life, the ongoing process of transition... the end of something, the importance of pausing to figure things out and then the embrace of new beginnings. Walking in nature enables me to build resilience, gratitude and positivity. It reminds me to celebrate every moment.

I grew up on a farm in Prince Edward County and enjoyed many moments in nature, as a child.  My parents encouraged outdoor activities.  When not in school or helping on the farm, I filled my days with walking in the woods, peaceful paddling in my canoe and animal tracking.  These experiences grounded me.

As an adult, I have enjoyed many fulfilling life and career experiences.  In my personal life, I have suffered trauma and tragic loss.  I have known the raw pain of emotional, physical and mental stress.  During my worse times, I have turned back to immersing myself in natural surroundings.  I’ve gone to the forest.  Nature continues to influence my wellness and empowers me to return to happiness again and again.  When I learned that this was more than just a ‘feeling’, that this concept had scientific proof of validity, I decided that I wanted to share this sort of practice with others.  In 2018, I became a Certified Forest Therapy Guide, through the Association of Forest and Nature Therapy.”

The forest is the therapist, the guide opens the door.

It has become my dream and ambition to bring nature to seniors.  I now offer a sensory immersive experience, through my online program of 'Mindfulness in Nature.'  It is a specialized series developed by Senior Living Experts, a Certified Forest Therapy Guide, and Residents of a Retirement Community.  This program has been finessed during the pandemic, over the last 2 years, to be delivered online.  Seniors rave about its effectiveness as it invokes calm, reflection, connection and moments of awe.  Due to the success of this program, it has recently relaunched to a new platform, making it highly accessible to seniors everywhere.  See details on this website under the 'Mindfulness Walks' tab.
